Screenwriting and Deep Fantasy Novels with Eldon Thompson on the Podcast

This is the Books and Authors Fantasy Podcast Episode 100 with Eldon Thompson .

Good day and welcome to this episode of the Books and Authors Fantasy Podcast. I’m your host, podcaster and author of Fun Fantasy Reads, Jamie Davis. This podcast is exactly what the title says it is, a show focused on everything in fantasy books.

From Epic Fantasy, to Urban Fantasy, to Sword and Sorcery, and everything in between, expect to find the best and brightest authors from all the various corners of the fantasy book world. Plus we’ll add in a few other very special guests as well along the way.

Kicking off things this week, I’ll start with my author update. Having finished my first draft work on book 4 in the Huntress Clan Saga series, I am deep into editing it before sending off to the editor and proofreader. I can’t wait to share it with you and all of my readers. If you haven’t picked up the first three books in the series, now’s the time to do that. Check out the entire series over on Amazon starting with Huntress Initiate, the first book in the Huntress Clan Saga.

You can check out more information on what I’m up to, including sneak peeks of upcoming covers, special giveaways, and more, by visiting my fan group on Facebook, Jamie’s Fun Fantasy Readers and over at my website and blog, JamieDavisBooks.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

Moving on to our author this week, I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Eldon Thompson. Eldon is a lifelong epic fantasy enthusiast with two childhood dreams: play quarterback in the NFL, and become a published fantasy author. He says though he’s fallen well short of the first goal, he did sell his epic fantasy trilogy THE LEGEND OF ASAHIEL to HarperCollins in 2003. The first book in that series, THE CRIMSON SWORD, debuted in hardcover on May 3, 2005, the same day as Brandon Sanderson’s ELANTRIS.

He later became involved in Hollywood screenwriting, selling a feature-length adaptation of Terry Brooks’s THE ELFSTONES OF SHANNARA (his favorite book as a kid) to Warner Bros in 2007. Alas, the film version was never made, but he continued to write for Hollywood until 2013, when he contributed the short story “Unbowed” to Shawn Speakman’s UNFETTERED anthology. Reception to that story was strong enough that he finally prioritized on writing the WARDER trilogy, featuring fan-favorite character Kylac Kronus, which published in late 2018.

Check out my interview with Eldon.
